Glowing January Sunset, The Sound Of Mull

Donated by Jenny Chapman of MacAvon Miniatures
This is an original miniature watercolour painting by Jenny Chapman. It shows a view looking across the Sound of Mull during a beautiful sunset in early January. The gorgeous glowing colours of the sunset were reflected all across the water of the Sound and in the shallow pools at the edge of the shore. Looking through the dark silhouetted branches of a wind-stunted ash tree, still carrying its dangling seed pods, the effect was like a beautiful stained glass window. On the far side of the Sound the northern tip of the island of Mull merged into a bank of low cloud, which looked quite blue in contrast with the orange of the sunset.
