KITCHEN/DINING

Vintage Co-operative Sample Biscuit TinVintage Co-operative Wholesale Vintage Sample Tin @ £15.00

This is a lovely old Co-operative Wholesale Cream Cracker sample tin with removable lid, in an extremely worn condition as you can see but nevertheless, increasingly rare to find. Exact age unknown but believed to be at the very least 1920s/30s - maybe a lot older? What is so delightful is that underneath the tin is the embossed statement "THE ONLY 8 HOUR BISCUIT WORKS IN ENGLAND".

Measures 1 3/4" high x 1 1/2" wide

Vintage Co-operative Sample Biscuit Tin

Apparently, the Crumpsall Biscuit Works opened in 1873 at Lower Crumpsall, Manchester (UK). Employees were given a brilliant working environment which actually included sports facilities such as a football and cricket club, tennis courts, a recreation ground plus a bowling green. I understand that there was a dining room with discounted food and the facility of free warming for packed dinners. They were even provided a library and board /card games. How fantastic and pioneering was that!

This little tin really does have a sense of history and would look fantastic on a kitchen shelf or pantry floor?

The over door opens and the oven splashback can be closed right down (as seen in photo below). It is in a good played with condition.
