CONGRATULATIONS TO...

ROSEMARY FARR

WITH THE HIGHEST WINNING BID OF £150.00

This is a room scene called simply “A Box Of Memories” that has been created inside a tiny antique smoker’s cabinet by us to depict a nostalgic and poignant scene of a lady of mature years (endearingly named Florrie) who is up in her old loft room, surrounded by many possessions of great sentimental value.  As she sits, she picks up an old family album and finds memories of days long gone come flooding back.

**Several wonderful hand made miniature items plus materials have been kindly donated by professional UK artisans, most of whom will be stand holders at the Thame Dolls House & Miniatures Fair on February 20th 2010**

*This super character doll has been created by Robin Britton of Coombe Crafts, complete with glasses donated by Dolls House Mall, sitting on an antique dolls house chair.“Florrie”is looking through her old family album, emotional reminders of absent loved ones.

*The sweet little print of a cat complete with an old fashioned frame was donated by Ellie de Lacy. A pile of books, a candlestick and an old calendar have all been crammed onto the tiny window sill.

*The delightful 1930s felt hats that can be seen on top of the tea chest, were kindly donated by Margaret Pitts of Mini Milliner and although she will not be attending Thame Fair, her contact details can be seen at end of this feature.

*Sitting on top of an old box in pride of place is a most wonderful and authentic tiny 1920s doll called “Sarah”, fully aged and looking rather beautiful, which has been especially created and donated by Sandra Morris of Diminutive Dolls. “Sarah” has been sitting up in the loft for a very long time, and was “Florrie’s” much cherished doll.

*A gorgeous old fashioned china nursery plate, donated by Karen and Peter of Stokesay Ware has been placed in such a way that it looks like it has just been unwrapped from old newspaper.

*A box of rolled up mock wallpaper stands at the far end of a long shelf, an aged 1930s Golden Wonder Book plus an assortment of bits and pieces have been randomly fixed. Right on the end is an exquisite ceramic Toby Jug, created and donated by Sally Meekins.

*Standing on the wooden chest, on the washstand, is a fascinating World War 1 framed set of medals, created by Carol Lester of Dolls House Mall. They, in real life, were affectionately known as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.

*All kinds of vintage ephemera such as WW2 identity cards, War Illustrated etc. are scattered over the washstand plus there is a printed box filled with old school books, a photo and an old school certificate. Underneath there's a box of Xmas decorations....doesn't everyone have a box of these in their loft?

*Amongst the varied assortment of items scattered over the floor, are a couple of old copies of Focus.....the Breast Cancer Campaign's own magazine. Plus on top of these, are two old printed mini versions of our very own Thame Dolls House & Miniatures Fair brochures.
