1950s Dolls House Interior 1950s Dolls House Back View

The dolls house is accessed via two back opening doors with handles. These two back doors have a pretty image of cottage windows, door and greenery handpainted on the back and this was not original to the house. It can easily be painted over if necessary.

The front door has an attractive porthole window but is missing its handle. At the top of the house there is an attractive porthole window which gives view into the loft.

The house consists of four rooms with front door leading into lounge. There is an attractive arched way through to the kitchen and open tread stairs lead up to the landing with two opening doors into upstairs rooms. The windows are glazed with thin plastic acetate and e original handmade curtains on wire & hooks remain. All the furniture that you see are included and to my knowledge, are original to the house apart from maybe the kitchen sink and cooker (see below)? There are also loft rooms.

1950s Dolls House KitchenKitchen

Kitchen has fixed in plastic cooker and sink which seem a bit out of place and maybe later additions - more like 1960s plus they appear to be 1/16th scale whereas all other handmade furniture appears to be 1/12th scale. There is a sweet little wooden shelf with hooks and an odd wooden slatted piece below? Additional items such as rug, clock, plastic saucepan etc. plus an oversized broom and metal dustpan all included.

1950s Dolls House LoungeLounge

There is a gorgeous hand embroidered carpet, handmade armchairs and wooden coffee table, all original to the house. A useful cupboard that opens is situated under the stairs.

1950s Dolls House Bedroom 1950s Dolls House Bedroom Built In WardrobeBedroom

This is one of my favourite rooms as not only has it's original pale green wooden bed with bedcover and pillows, dressing table and stool, it has a fabulous built in wardrobe with sliding door! Inside the wardrobe is a tiny felt coat on a hangar. There is also a vintage china jug & bowl plus matching potty.

1950s Dolls House BathroomBathroom

The bathroom is void of all original furniture sadly apart from a towel rail on the wall.

**UPDATE..the previous owner has since forwarded a little plastic bathroom suite which will be included in the sale of this house.

1950s Dolls HouseLoft RoomsLoft Rooms

The back panel of the roof lifts off fixed pegs to reveal three fantastic loft rooms. Just think what you could do with these! The roof has been inscribed with ink to represent tiles.

1950s Dolls House Chimney Handle 1950s Dolls House Removable Back Roof Panel

Another nice touch is the very cleverly designed chimney handle with the original brick paper- wonderful!

Also included with this house is a small box of more modern bits that the previous owner added herself. I am keeping them with the house such as a plastic dog etc. (Not shown in photo).

THIS WONDERFUL HOUSE HAS BEEN MUCH CHERISHED BY PREVIOUS OWNER WHO IS SELLING RELUCTANTLY. THEY THEMSELVES BOUGHT THIS AT AUCTION ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO AND THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN KNOWN AS "SUSANS HOUSE" AS THEY FOUND A COLOURING BOOK INSIDE WITH THAT NAME WRITTEN INSIDE. IT IS NOW TIME FOR THIS GORGEOUS HOUSE TO EMBARK ONTO A NEW CHAPTER IN ITS LIFE.

MEASUREMENTS

Width= 25"    Depth= 13 1/2" Height=
26 1/2"

Downstairs ceiling height 8" tall, upstairs 8 1/2".

I am of the conclusion that 1/12th scale furniture would suit this house.

PLEASE NOTE: This cannot be posted but must be picked up in person due to heavy weight and fragility of this house.
